 How Our Hunt Works
 
**Every order from BOTG comes with a unique treasure hunt experience designed just for you!**  
Here’s what to expect when you join the adventure:
 
- **Receive Your Gear & Clues:**  
  Each order arrives in a canvas tote filled with outdoor gear and a set of poems and puzzles. These clues will guide you to a hidden location within your state.
 
- **State-Specific Hunts:**  
  Your hunt is tailored to the state where your order is shipped. For example, if your order is delivered in New Mexico, your clues will lead to a New Mexico location. If you send your order to someone in Connecticut, their hunt takes place there.
 
- **Solve the Clues, Find the Treasure:**  
  Use your clues to search for the hidden box in your state. Each box is packed with treasures and rewards for the fastest finders!
 

 

BOTG Treasure Hunt Rules

Welcome to the BOTG Treasure Hunt!
To keep our adventures fair, fun, and safe for everyone, please read and follow these rules:

1. One Hunt Per Order

Every BOTG order comes with its own unique treasure hunt. You cannot purchase a hunt by itself—every adventure begins with a BOTG gear order. If you order 1 or 15 items in your order you only receive one hunt per order.

2. State-Specific Hunts

  • Your hunt is based on the U.S. state where your order is shipped.

  • If you’re gifting an order, the recipient’s state will determine their hunt location.

  • Hunts are available only within the United States.

3. Fair Play & Participation

  • Each hunt is capped at 100 participants to keep things exciting and fair.

  • Only one prize box per hunt—first to find it wins the treasure!

  • If you’re not the first, don’t worry! Share your solution with us to earn a gift card and keep the adventure going. *Instructions Included in Treasure Hunt tote with order. 

4. How to Win

  • Be the first to solve your clues and reach the hidden location to claim the prize box.

  • Prizes may include gems, memorabilia, event tickets, vacation passes, and more.

  • The next 99 solvers who share their solve online and get the right location for their hunt will receive a gift card (amount varies by placement). *Instructions included in Treasure Hunt tote. 

5. Time Limits

  • Most hunts are designed to be solved within 6 months.

  • If a box isn’t found in that time, BOTG will release clues to those who received the hunt to help you solve it. .

6. Annual Big BOTG Hunt

  • Each year, we host a special nationwide hunt with its own theme and grand prize.

  • All Safe Trails Members get free entry to the Big Hunt!

  • $100,000 Treasure, 1 treasure box, 1 winner. 

7. Safety & Respect

  • Please respect all public and private property while hunting.

  • None of the treasures are on Private Property 

  • Follow local laws and park rules at all times.

  • Use the Safe Trails program for added support and safety resources.

  • Each hunt comes with a unique code. Use it to request hints or assistance from the BOTG team.

**What kind of treasure will I find?**

       The first person to solve the hunt and reach the location will discover a box filled with treasures—think gems, memorabilia, event tickets, vacation passes, and more. Even if you aren’t first, you can still win: share your solve with us and you’ll get a gift card to try another hunt!

**How many hunts are there in each state?**

     Each state has several boxes to find, with a maximum of 100 hunters per hunt. This keeps the experience fun and fair for everyone.

**How long does it take to solve a hunt?**

        Our hunts are designed to be accessible and fun. Most people finish within six months, but every adventure is unique!

**Can I just order a hunt by itself?**  

       No, hunts are included with every BOTG order. However, you can purchase special passes for the annual Big BOTG Hunt or join our Safe Trails program for extra perks and community support.

**What if I want to gift a hunt?**  

      Simply ship your order to your recipient’s state—they’ll get a hunt tailored to their location!

**How do I get help or extra clues?**

     Every hunt includes a unique code. Use it to request hints, get help, or share your progress with our team.

**What’s the Big BOTG Hunt?**  

         Once a year, we host a nationwide community hunt with a special theme and $100,000 in treasures.
